Cailee Spaeny Reportedly Eyed for Elden Ring Movie Role

Reports suggest Cailee Spaeny, known for her role in *Alien: Romulus*, is currently in discussions to join the cast of the upcoming *Elden Ring* movie adaptation. Should this materialize, it would mark another collaboration between Spaeny and writer-director Alex Garland, though her specific role within the film remains undisclosed at this time.

The potential casting was initially reported by Jeff Sneider, as highlighted by Eurogamer. Spaeny and Garland have previously collaborated on the television series *Devs*, as well as last year`s acclaimed film *Civil War*. While Spaeny is widely recognized for her performance as Rain in *Alien: Romulus*, her breakthrough role is often attributed to *Pacific Rim: Uprising* in 2018.

The *Elden Ring* movie was officially announced in May, with Alex Garland confirmed to take on both directing and screenwriting duties for the adaptation. Garland`s previous directorial and writing credits include critically acclaimed works such as *Ex Machina*, *Annihilation*, and the aforementioned *Civil War*. Beyond film, he also possesses a history within the video game industry, having co-written *Enslaved: Odyssey to the West* and contributed to the narrative of 2013`s *DmC*. Garland`s deep familiarity with the source material is evident; he recently stated that he was on his seventh playthrough of *Elden Ring* last month.

Furthermore, actor Kit Connor is also rumored to be considered for a role in the *Elden Ring* film. This would represent yet another reunion for Garland, as the two previously worked together on last year`s movie, *Warfare*.

The original *Elden Ring* game received widespread critical acclaim, earning GameSpot`s Game of the Year award in 2022. The title is anticipated to release on the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. Its highly successful expansion, *Shadow of the Erdtree*, recently surpassed 10 million copies shipped. Additionally, the co-op spin-off *Elden Ring Nightreign* has also achieved significant commercial success, with 5 million units shipped to date.
