In a move that caught many by surprise, Square Enix has quietly released its critically acclaimed jRPG, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, on Xbox and PC. Until this sudden launch, the game was exclusively available on Nintendo Switch 2.
Originally, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster debuted on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. This updated version of the jRPG quickly garnered significant praise from both critics and players. It was lauded for its classic combat system, distinctive visual style, and noticeably improved graphics, with many fans hailing it as one of the most compelling premieres on the Nintendo platform.

It appears the game’s exclusivity was short-lived. Square Enix opted for a low-key approach, foregoing a large-scale marketing campaign. However, the company did release a trailer confirming this unexpected expansion to new platforms. Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster is now accessible via Microsoft Store and Steam, though it remains unavailable on PlayStation consoles for the time being.
Alongside this surprise release, Square Enix also shared a significant milestone for fans of the series: total sales for the Bravely franchise have now exceeded 4 million copies worldwide.
