Borderlands 4: Unexpected Stats from Opening Weekend

Borderlands 4, launched last week, invites players to delve into the world of Kairos, a planet brimming with opportunities for valuable loot. Gearbox Studios has unveiled intriguing statistics from Borderlands 4`s opening weekend, highlighting players` astonishing dedication to finding treasure.

`A
Key statistics from Borderlands 4`s inaugural weekend, provided by Gearbox Studios.

Unusual Looting Habits Revealed

According to the released data, an astonishing 1,530,794 items were discovered in outhouses. Who would have thought such unassuming locations could hide so much bounty?! In contrast, only 487,585 items were retrieved from trashcans, suggesting that exploring an outhouse proves significantly more rewarding than rummaging through conventional waste.

Players also managed to acquire 1,811,970 items from boomboxes, beer coolers, and grills. However, red chests stood out as the undisputed champions of loot, yielding 14,814,296 items during the inaugural weekend.

The High Price of Treasure Hunting

This extensive treasure hunt, however, came at a cost: 2,034,399 players met an untimely end by exploding barrels. Fatalities from grenades were even higher, reaching 4,563,416. While deaths due to toxic goo were considerably fewer (349,734), these incidents appeared to be the most agonizing.

Regarding in-game vehicles, a total of 16,220,852 were destroyed, though specific breakdowns by vehicle type were not provided.

Boss Battles: Triumphs and Defeats

Players engaged in 62,718,658 boss battles, with 55,403,323 bosses ultimately defeated. Nevertheless, 16,220,852 boss encounters resulted in player defeat, highlighting the challenging nature of these confrontations.

Performance Concerns and Developer Response

Despite receiving generally positive critical reviews, PC players have voiced significant concerns on Steam regarding Borderlands 4`s performance and optimization. Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox Studios, has challenged these player reports, maintaining his stance on the matter while offering optimization tips.

Pitchford also announced that a patch for the PS5 Pro is currently in development to address specific issues on that console, aiming to improve the experience for PlayStation players.

Borderlands 4 is currently available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. A Nintendo Switch 2 port is scheduled for release on October 3, extending the mayhem to more platforms.
