Following the conclusion of the Battlefield 6 open beta, Battlefield Studios has released an update detailing crucial changes planned for the game`s official launch. A significant adjustment involves a substantial nerf to the M87A1 shotgun.
During the beta, many players reported the M87A1 shotgun as excessively powerful. In response, Battlefield Studios will modify the weapon to require more pellets for a confirmed kill. The development team promptly recognized the shotgun`s imbalance after the beta went live, confirming on August 10 that these issues had already been addressed in a more recent game build.
Broader Weapon Adjustments
Beyond the shotgun, Battlefield Studios is also making targeted adjustments across all weapons to ensure a more consistent and satisfying gunplay experience. These changes will include a general overhaul of recoil and tap-fire mechanics. The aim is to promote more controlled tap-firing and burst-firing, thereby rewarding player precision and mastery of weapons.
Regarding feedback on time-to-kill (TTK) rates, Battlefield Studios acknowledges player concerns but has not yet committed to specific changes in this area. They have stated that further updates will be provided if definitive alterations are decided upon.
Beta Success and Release Information
The Battlefield 6 open beta set a new record for the franchise, attracting an unprecedented number of players. While Battlefield Studios did not release specific player figures, research firm Oppenheimer estimated that over 20 million individuals participated in the beta.
Battlefield 6 is set to launch on October 10, shortly after the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta concludes on October 8. While Battlefield 6 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass, players can access the $100 edition through EA`s EA Play Pro subscription service, priced at $17 per month.
