Battlefield Studios has officially confirmed the inclusion of a server browser in Battlefield 6. However, this feature will mirror Battlefield 2042`s approach, presenting a notable limitation for players.
In a recent official FAQ, Battlefield Studios clarified that the server browser will be available exclusively within Battlefield 6`s Portal mode. This means players will be able to easily locate desired game types from the main menu through Portal. Significantly, there will be no server browser for official, developer-run servers.
Battlefield Portal, initially introduced in Battlefield 2042, allows players to create and customize their own game types with unique rules and settings. For Battlefield 6, this functionality is expanded to empower players to even design their own maps.
Many fans value a server browser for the freedom it provides, allowing them to choose specific games, maps, and servers in their region with optimal ping. While Battlefield 6 will lack an official server browser for its standard modes, it`s anticipated that the community may attempt to replicate official server experiences within Portal. Nevertheless, this workaround might not offer an ideal player experience.
Battlefield 6 producer Alexia Christofi engaged with the community regarding the demand for an official server browser. She invited players to provide feedback on why this feature was important to them, and subsequently highlighted the key sentiments expressed in the numerous responses received.
Christofi later stated that Battlefield 6`s server browser, facilitated through Portal, effectively “answers all these wants.” She acknowledged that it solely displays community-created experiences, but emphasized that players can still earn full XP progression in these modes, and they will be prominently showcased on the main menu of Battlefield 6.
Given the absence of a dedicated server browser for official Battlefield 6 servers, players will instead find matches through a matchmaking system across various playlists. This new system will be available for players to test during the upcoming Battlefield 6 open beta, which is scheduled to commence on August 7th.
