The highly anticipated open beta for Battlefield 6 commenced today, drawing an impressive number of players into its early access phase. This initial rollout precedes a broader release scheduled for the upcoming weekends.
On Steam alone, the Battlefield 6 open beta recorded a staggering peak of over 314,000 concurrent players. This significant figure, however, represents only a segment of the total audience, as the beta is also widely available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the EA App for PC.
The immense player turnout has inevitably led to some challenges, with the Battlefield 6 open beta servers experiencing difficulties. Players have reported issues with matchmaking, and developers have suggested restarting the game client as a temporary measure to improve connectivity. To manage the soaring demand, the beta is utilizing server queues, and Battlefield Studios has announced plans for a `substantial increase in server capacity` to better accommodate the influx of players.
Producer David Sirland commented on the beta`s significance, stating, “The open beta serves as our most crucial validation to date. We aim to observe how the game performs on a grand scale, then meticulously evaluate the outcomes, gather player feedback, and iterate accordingly, a process consistent with our established development practices.”
Beyond server performance, players have also raised concerns regarding weapon balance, specifically noting that shotguns appear to be excessively powerful. Sirland confirmed that Battlefield Studios is actively investigating these reports with the intention of identifying and implementing necessary adjustments before the game`s official launch in October.
Access to the Battlefield 6 open beta`s early access phase is currently available to those who obtained a Twitch code or registered for Battlefield Labs by July 31. Additionally, all EA Play Pro members have immediate access. For players still looking to join, watching a partnered Twitch stream for a duration of 30 minutes can provide an entry code.
