Battlefield 6 Excludes PS4 and Xbox One

It appears that the highly anticipated military shooter, Battlefield 6, will not be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. According to Insider Gaming, the game`s wishlist page strongly suggests it will be a console exclusive for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, in addition to being available on PC. For instance, the Xbox link on the Battlefield 6 website directs users specifically to an Xbox Series X|S product page, with no mention of Xbox One. While the PlayStation store page doesn`t explicitly list platforms, it`s reasonable to infer that if the game skips Xbox One, it will likely bypass PS4 as well.

GameSpot has reached out to EA for clarification on the game`s platform availability and any potential plans for supporting the Nintendo Switch 2. Notably, while Activision has expressed continued commitment to bringing Call of Duty to Switch eventually, the main Battlefield series has historically never launched on a Nintendo console.

The previous installment, Battlefield 2042 (released in 2021), was available on both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Given that the last-generation consoles were launched in 2013, it was always a matter of time before they would cease to be supported by the newest game titles.

Battlefield 6 is being developed collaboratively by DICE, Motive, Ripple Effect, and Criterion, all working under the Battlefield Studios umbrella. The game`s campaign was showcased in an announcement trailer on July 24, with the multiplayer mode set to be unveiled on July 31.
