Assassin’s Creed Shadows: New Platforms and Switch 2 Speculation

Ubisoft has indicated that Assassin`s Creed Shadows may be released on additional platforms, expanding beyond the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation versions already announced. During the company`s recent earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot discussed future plans for the game. He mentioned the upcoming Claws of Awaji expansion, expected in October, and further alluded to “new versions” that would be available on “other machines.”

According to VGC reports, Guillemot was directly questioned about Ubisoft`s strategy for the rumored Nintendo Switch 2. While he stated that Ubisoft has not yet disclosed which titles will launch on the new console, many believe that Assassin`s Creed Shadows could be among them. Despite an earlier listing on PEGI`s website hinting at a Switch 2 version of Shadows, official confirmation is still pending. However, Ubisoft has already confirmed that its upcoming title, Star Wars Outlaws, is scheduled to release on the Switch 2 on September 4.

Since its launch in March, Assassin`s Creed Shadows has successfully garnered 5 million players. Ubisoft reported that the game`s performance has “performed in line with expectations.” The title was originally released on March 20, a date that followed multiple delays, which were implemented to allow the development team ample time to refine and polish the game to meet their quality standards.

In related Ubisoft news, Yves Guillemot recently announced that his son, Charlie Guillemot, is set to become the co-CEO of a new Ubisoft entity tasked with managing its core franchises. Charlie addressed potential concerns regarding nepotism directly, stating, “Yes, I am Yves` son. That`s not something I hide from. But my appointment isn`t solely about family ties; it`s about what Ubisoft needs at this moment.”
