Apple has unexpectedly introduced its new Emoji Game, adding it to the collection of puzzle games available on Apple News+. This subscription service, primarily known for offering a wide range of newspapers and magazines, also provides its members with access to various engaging iOS games, including popular titles like Crossword Mini and Sudoku.
Apple confirmed yesterday that the Emoji Game is now accessible to Apple News+ subscribers in the United States and Canada. Currently, the puzzle game supports only English. Players are tasked with deciphering and completing phrases by dragging and dropping emojis based on short clues. For instance, a clue like `departure` for a two-word phrase might require selecting sunrise and clock emojis to form “early,” followed by car and keys emojis to represent “start.” Emojis must be chosen from a broader selection provided to solve the puzzles.

“Emoji Game is the perfect addition to the Apple News+ suite of word and number puzzles, turning the emoji we use every day into a brainteaser that`s approachable and fun,” stated Lauren Kern, editor-in-chief of Apple News.
Following the successful launch of Quartiles last year – an innovative spelling game where users form words by combining two-to-four-letter tiles – Emoji Game, much like Crossword Mini, will offer new daily puzzles to keep subscribers engaged and challenged.
Apple News+ is available for a monthly fee of $13. It is also included as part of the Apple One Premier bundle, which costs $38 per month. This comprehensive bundle encompasses family sharing and five other valuable subscriptions, such as Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade.
Looking ahead, Apple plans to launch a unified games application, Apple Games, later this year. This upcoming app aims to centralize all games, whether they are purchased titles or those accessible through an Apple Arcade subscription. Apple has indicated that the Emoji Game will also be conveniently available within the new Apple Games app upon its official release this fall.
