This technology strikingly resembles the translation system from the Mass Effect franchise. In the RPG series, auto-translators are indispensable for seamless communication between humans, Krogans, and Salarians. Their importance is especially evident on the Citadel, where numerous alien communities converge.
Upon their launch on September 19, priced at $249, the new Apple earbuds will support live translation for English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. By the end of 2025, the company plans to add Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese to this list. It`s worth noting that AirPods Pro 3 are not the first earbuds with an auto-translation feature; similar capabilities are already offered by Google Pixel Buds and some Samsung models.
Meanwhile, little is currently known about Mass Effect 5, the next game in the sci-fi series. One of the latest mentions of the project was merely a hint from BioWare executive producer Michael Gamble, who seemingly confirmed the presence of lens flare in the game.
Furthermore, a Mass Effect TV series is in development at Amazon MGM Studios. In June, it was reported that Doug Jung had been appointed as showrunner, following his work on the Apple TV+ series “Chief of War.” Jung also served as a writer for Netflix`s “Mindhunter” and co-wrote the screenplay for “Star Trek Beyond.”
