A comprehensive 15-film 4K Blu-ray set, “Alfred Hitchcock: The Ultimate Collection,” is set to release on October 14 for $125. Previously, 4K collections of Hitchcock`s work were limited to smaller 5-film sets, while this extensive compilation was only available on standard Blu-ray since 2012. This new 4K release includes over nine hours of special features, a collectible booklet, and digital copies of all films, which can be added to a Movies Anywhere library for streaming or download.
Universal Pictures is also reissuing the 1080p Blu-ray edition, first released in 2017. Priced at $88 or $101, this version comes with digital copies of each movie, mirroring the 4K box set`s bonus features and packaging. The 2017 Blu-ray edition, still available for about $56.63 (originally $100), offers 15 hours of bonus features, including 7 episodes of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” and 3 episodes of “The Alfred Hitchcock Hour,” though it does not include digital copies. The upcoming Blu-ray is expected to benefit from the same 4K restorations as its UHD counterpart.
The “Ultimate Collection” features the following 15 classic Hitchcock movies on 4K Blu-ray and digital:
- The Birds
- Family Plot
- Frenzy
- The Man Who Knew Too Much
- Marnie
- North by Northwest
- Psycho
- Rear Window
- Rope
- Saboteur
- Shadow of a Doubt
- Topaz
- Torn Curtain
- The Trouble with Harry
- Vertigo
All 15 films boast High Dynamic Range (HDR10) and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, with some also supporting DTS:X and/or Dolby TrueHD surround sound. Special features vary by film, with major classics offering more extensive bonus content, totaling over nine hours across the collection, including documentaries, commentaries, interviews, and behind-the-scenes material. The set comes in a cardboard display box containing two oversized plastic cases, along with a 64-page collectible booklet featuring storyboards, production photographs, letters, and trivia.

The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collections (4K Blu-ray + Blu-ray)
For those looking to collect Hitchcock`s films, most titles from “The Ultimate Collection” are already available across three “Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collections” on 4K Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray. “North by Northwest” is the only film not included in these sets. Each Classics Collection typically retails for $70, though they are often found with significant discounts. While digital codes in older box sets may be expired, these collections provide both 4K and Blu-ray discs, but they do not include the collector`s booklet found in “The Ultimate Collection.”
The individual “Classics Collections” include:
- Collection 1 (approx. $30): Saboteur, Shadow of a Doubt, The Trouble with Harry, Marnie, Family Plot
- Collection 2 (approx. $32): Rope, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Torn Curtain, Topaz, Frenzy
- Collection 3 (approx. $40): Psycho, The Birds, Vertigo, Rear Window
Alfred Hitchcock: The Iconic Film Collection – Limited Edition

Released last year, “Alfred Hitchcock: The Iconic Film Collection” is a limited edition (5,150 copies) 4K Blu-ray and digital box set. It features “North by Northwest” along with five other films also present in “The Ultimate Collection” (The Birds, Psycho, Rear Window, Vertigo), plus the unique inclusion of “To Catch a Thief.” This collection boasts 15 hours of bonus features, surpassing the “Ultimate Collection,” and comes in a stunning book-style display case with storyboards, sketches, photographs, and new artwork.
