The highly sought-after A Nightmare on Elm Street: 7-Film Steelbook Library Collection, an Amazon exclusive priced at $175, quickly sold out upon its preorder launch on June 11. While this rapid sell-out was expected, it left many devoted horror fans disappointed, especially since this collection marks the debut of six films in the series on 4K Blu-ray. Fortunately, a standard edition of the 7-Film Collection will also be released on September 30, coinciding with the Steelbook Library Collection.
Fans eager to own the collection can preorder the standard A Nightmare on Elm Street: 7-Film Collection on 4K Blu-ray for $105.
What`s Included in the 4K Collection?
The new A Nightmare on Elm Street collection comes with 4K Blu-ray and digital versions (with Movies Anywhere support) of the following movies:
- A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984): Theatrical & Uncut versions
- Freddy`s Revenge (1985)
- Dream Warriors (1987)
- The Dream Master (1988)
- The Dream Child (1989): Theatrical & Uncut versions
- Freddy`s Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)
- Wes Craven`s New Nightmare (1994)
The original 1984 film, which saw a 4K Blu-ray release last autumn, is currently the only movie in the series to have undergone a 4K UHD restoration. It is available for $19 (originally $34) on Amazon, with a Limited Edition Steelbook recently restocked at $35.
Although the primary series concludes with 1991`s Freddy`s Dead: The Final Nightmare, this collection thoughtfully includes Wes Craven`s New Nightmare (1994), a meta-commentary film where Freddy is depicted as a fictional horror character.
Each of the seven films in this collection boasts native 4K (2160p) resolution, enhanced with HDR10 support. For an immersive audio experience, the set provides Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD 7.1, and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0.
A unique inclusion in the box set is a pair of 3D glasses, intended for viewing specific segments of Freddy`s Dead: The Final Nightmare.
Regarding bonus content, the collection features uncut versions of the original A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Dream Child, along with all special features previously available on the standard Blu-ray releases. It`s important to note that these bonus features are presented in 1080p and do not include HDR support.
For those interested in a more budget-friendly option, the standard Blu-ray edition of the 7-Film Collection has been available for over ten years and can often be found at a lower price. Currently, it`s available for just $24 (reduced from $45).
About the Steelbook Library Collection
The Amazon-exclusive Steelbook Library Collection is presently sold out. However, Amazon indicates it`s `temporarily out of stock,` suggesting potential future restocks. This limited-edition set (only 4,000 units produced) includes a distinct steelbook case for each film, housed within an impressive metal display case featuring stylized artwork. Each collection also comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
It`s worth noting that the cover art for the Steelbook cases in this new box set differs from last year`s A Nightmare on Elm Street Limited Edition Steelbook. The new artwork aligns with a region-free UK limited-edition release that included additional bonuses.

Amazon-Exclusive 4K Blu-ray Collector`s Sets
The A Nightmare on Elm Street collection is part of a growing trend of Amazon-exclusive 4K collector`s edition box sets. This initiative began with the Sean Connery James Bond Steelbook Library Collection in June, followed by the announcement of The Dark Knight Trilogy and Superman 5-Film Collection in July. Currently, all four of these exclusive sets are sold out, with Elm Street being the only one signaling a potential restock:
- A Nightmare on Elm Street: 7-Film Collection – $175 | September 30
- The Dark Knight Trilogy – $130 | September 16
- Superman 5-Film Collection – $130 | September 2
- 007: James Bond – Sean Connery 6-Film Collection – $140
It`s highly probable that the individual films within this collection will eventually be released as standalone 4K editions, mirroring the strategy seen with the Sean Connery James Bond movies. Prior to their 6-Film Collection, Connery`s Bond films, like Elm Street, were not available on 4K Blu-ray. Similar to Elm Street, the Bond collection also features a standard 4K Blu-ray edition priced at $105. By late July, it was confirmed that all six classic 007 films would be sold separately from September 23. Even if Elm Street follows suit, the $105 collection will undoubtedly offer superior value, as purchasing the Bond films individually would cost approximately $70 more than their box set price.

While the Library Collections are currently unavailable, Amazon continues to offer other new and forthcoming exclusive 4K Blu-ray box sets and individual films. Notable among these are Limited Edition Steelbook versions of Halloween and Halloween II on 4K Blu-ray, both slated for release on September 16.
- Halloween (1978): Limited Edition Steelbook (4K) – $45 | September 16
- Halloween II (1981): Limited Edition Steelbook (4K) – $45 | September 16
- Five Nights at Freddy`s: Ultimate Collector`s Edition (4K) – $75 | October 7
- Scarface: Ultimate Collector`s Edition (4K) – $75 | October 7
- The Karate Kid Ultimate 6-Movie Collection (4K) – $220 | August 26
- Pulp Fiction 30th Anniversary Collector`s Edition (4K) – $55 (originally $60)
