End of an Online Era: 2K Shutting Down Servers for Two Golf Games
Two popular golf simulators from 2K Sports — The Golf Club 2019 featuring PGA Tour and PGA Tour 2K21 — will soon cease their online operations. The publisher announced that the servers for these games will be shut down on October 30, 2025.
As of August 30, 2K Sports already stopped selling in-game currency for both titles, though they assured players this would not affect current gameplay. However, after October 30, online stores, all network modes, and functionalities, including progression rewards, will no longer be available.
2K Sports informed players of these changes via email. The reason for the server shutdown was not provided, but such a practice is common for older games. It is likely that the expiration of licensing contracts with the PGA Tour also played a role.
The Golf Club 2019 featuring PGA Tour, released in 2018, was the first game in the series to carry the PGA Tour branding. After a skipped year in 2019, the franchise returned in 2020 as PGA Tour 2K21. Subsequent releases included PGA Tour 2K23 (2022) and PGA Tour 2K25 (2025). PGA Tour 2K25 is currently the 16th best-selling game of 2025. The series is developed by HB Studios, which Take-Two acquired in 2021.
