ZA/UM Aims for Originality with Zero Parades, Steering Clear of Disco Elysium Comparisons

ZA/UM, the lauded studio behind the critically acclaimed Disco Elysium, is charting a distinct course for its upcoming title, Zero Parades. The developers have openly expressed their intention to forge a unique identity for the new game, deliberately avoiding “too many comparisons” to their previous work. Their philosophy is clear: “We didn’t feel like we wanted to repeat our greatest hits,” signifying a commitment to innovation over replication of past successes.

A striking visual insight into Zero Parades was recently revealed through its key art, showcased during the September 2025 Sony State of Play gameplay trailer. The artwork prominently features a short-haired woman, depicted in a vivid red trench coat, engaging the viewer with a direct gaze. Surrounding her is an evocative collage of somber, black and white heads, creating a dramatic backdrop. A warm orange hue subtly emerges from the bottom of the image, adding depth and a hint of a vibrant, yet perhaps unsettling, world.
