Russian gaming platform VK Play has refused to release the satirical survival simulator “Psyhonds,” set in a psychiatric hospital, while Valve’s Steam platform encountered no issues with its publication. Developers faced significant difficulties attempting to launch their game on the domestic service.
The game “Psyhonds,” which offers a satirical take on a survival experience within a psychiatric clinic, was meticulously prepared for its release. Its dedicated page was fully designed, all necessary warning labels were included, and an appropriate 18+ age rating was applied. However, despite these thorough preparations, the project received a rejection from VK Play.
Notably, the Russian platform reportedly cited a clause in its agreement that allows it to withhold the specific reasons for its decision, leaving developers without a clear explanation for the refusal.
In stark contrast, publisher Terrabyte Games has already successfully launched “Psyhonds” into early access on PC via Steam. The international platform’s moderation process presented no obstacles to the game’s publication, highlighting a significant difference in content review policies between the two services.
