Valve has rolled out a significant redesign for the Steam store’s main page, aiming to make it more informative and user-friendly. The new design is currently available for beta testing.
The company announced the beta, stating their intent to focus on the overall cohesion of the homepage. According to Valve, “For many years, we’ve added new sections and provided additional ways to find and learn about games, and with this update, we want to emphasize the integrity of the main page.”

Each section of the updated page features a unique set of tools and information, offering players numerous ways to explore Steam’s vast game catalog. Valve clarified the objective behind this visual refresh: “The main goal of this visual update is to strike a balance between interface consistency and preserving the unique characteristics of each section.”
Among the new features, Valve has given players the option to disable the autoplay of video micro-trailers and other animations, allowing for a less distracting browsing experience.
The recommendations list has also been enhanced, now offering the ability to quickly preview games directly within the list without needing to navigate away from the page.

For the “Popular and Recommended” section, more detailed information has been added to explain why a particular game was suggested to the user, providing greater transparency to the recommendation engine.
The updated design also introduces infinite scrolling, a feature aimed at making the homepage visually and functionally consistent with other sections of the Steam store.
Instructions for joining the Steam beta are available for users interested in experiencing the new design firsthand.
