Valve continues its efforts to enhance the technical performance of its popular first-person shooter, Counter-Strike 2. In early April, a substantial beta update was released, inviting players to experience a range of technical improvements and new features.
The developers announced that the CS2 engine code has been upgraded to the latest version of Source 2, promising improved stability and functionality. Additionally, a new sound effect for the C4 explosive has been implemented, aiming to provide clearer audio cues during gameplay.
Further refinements were made to the maps Nuke and Vertigo, addressing various aspects of design and playability. Sound settings received adjustments across multiple maps, including Baggage, Shoots, Ancient, Nuke, and Vertigo, to enhance the overall audio experience.

A significant highlight of this update is the introduction of a brand-new animation system, designed to optimize resource consumption and provide more responsive player feedback.
Today we are releasing a beta build that includes an update to the CS2 animation system to Animgraph 2. This reduces CPU and network load associated with animation processing. In addition to the technical changes related to the transition to the new system, all third-person animations have been reworked, and in some cases — adjusted based on player feedback.
