Assassin’s Creed Shadows has consistently faced criticism, a trend that began even before its official release. A year after the game’s launch, Ubisoft recently shared player engagement statistics for the title, aiming to highlight community achievements.
According to Ubisoft, players have collectively spent over 334 million hours in the game, eliminating more than four billion enemies. Additionally, the community prayed at shrines 159.6 million times and executed over 58 million iconic “Leaps of Faith.”
However, Ubisoft’s announcement was met with skepticism from a segment of the player base. Several dissatisfied users, including one identified as DemianDevile, publicly urged Ubisoft to disclose a different kind of metric: the game’s sales figures.
“It’s rather amusing that Ubisoft provides any numbers they want, except for the number of copies sold. ‘Player engagement,’ ‘number of gaming sessions’ – but sold copies are the forbidden figure, because that’s what would objectively show how successful the game truly is. I believe all platforms should publish these figures openly, to make it impossible to lie.”
