For a long time, Bethesda fans have been calling for updated editions of classic games like Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.
In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Todd Howard of Bethesda revealed a shift in his perspective on game remasters. The renowned creator shared how his views have changed:
“For a long time, I was against [remasters], always saying, ‘No, no, no. It’s a game of its time, you just need to make sure it works [on modern systems].'”
However, according to Howard, he has now “matured” and his attitude towards remasters has become “warmer.”
The idea of creating a remaster for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion “kept coming up” within Bethesda, and he eventually agreed. In his view, remasters are “good for the audience,” and a single-player game like Oblivion serves as “a kind of small time capsule.”
