Players exploring The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered have encountered a familiar landscape of technical quirks and specific characteristics from the original game.
Following its release, many quickly noticed that several distinctive elements, including certain bugs, remained intact in the updated version. In a recent interview, Todd Howard, director and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, shed light on this, explaining that it was largely an intentional decision.
Howard noted that some bugs were incredibly challenging to fix, and it was also uncertain whether players would even attempt to exploit them:
For example, the bug that allows you to stand on objects — fixing that is incredibly difficult.
Additionally, Todd Howard specifically highlighted a memorable voice acting blooper. He recalled a scene where an actor began delivering a line, then requested another take, only to repeat the phrase immediately afterward – all of which inadvertently made it into the final game.
You know what — it’s fine. I even like it when the voice acting has a slight stumble. Yes, let these things remain. It’s perfectly okay; it’s part of the game’s charm.
This approach reflects a desire to preserve some of the beloved, albeit occasionally flawed, elements that contribute to Oblivion’s unique identity and nostalgic appeal.
