Players are currently finding their own solutions to a recent technical glitch affecting the game.
Following recent updates rolled out for both the main Escape from Tarkov game and its spin-off, EFT: Arena, Steam users quickly reported a significant problem.
Both the core Escape from Tarkov title and the online shooter EFT: Arena utilize a unified launcher. However, the latest update appears to have disrupted the game’s update mechanism, consequently preventing EFT: Arena from launching correctly through the Steam version of this shared launcher.

The dedicated Escape from Tarkov community has been proactive and has swiftly identified a workaround for this issue. To properly update and successfully launch EFT: Arena, players need to access the launcher directly from the game’s installation directory:
Instead of merely clicking “Play” within the Steam client, users should navigate to the game’s local files. From there, they need to locate the launcher executable (.exe) and run it manually. This specific method successfully triggers the necessary game update. If players simply attempt to launch the game by clicking “Play” in Steam, the launcher will open, but it will fail to initiate the required update, a frustrating situation humorously termed a “Tarkov moment” by members of the player base.
