Surprise Bonus: Reddit User Receives Ryzen 5 CPU with AMD Cooler Order

A Reddit user recently shared an unusual and fortunate purchase experience: instead of just a standard boxed AMD CPU cooler, they were surprised to find a complete processor included in their package.

According to the user, they placed an order online for a typical AMD cooler. However, upon unboxing the delivery, they discovered not only the cooling system but also an AMD Ryzen 5 8400F processor. It appears this valuable addition was included due to an assembly or packaging error.

The user stated that they have not yet had the opportunity to verify the processor’s operational status. Nevertheless, visually the CPU appears authentic: the markings on the integrated heat spreader (IHS) align with original samples, and the arrangement of its components raises no suspicions. While the market has previously seen counterfeit versions of more expensive Ryzen models, no indications of falsification were found in this particular instance.

The only minor imperfections noted were a few small spots on the surface of the processor’s IHS. The contact pins, however, were reported to be in excellent condition.

The Ryzen 5 8400F is an entry-level processor featuring the Zen 4 architecture, equipped with 6 cores and 12 threads. Despite its classification, this chip is capable of delivering solid performance in gaming when paired with mid-range graphics cards. Currently, its retail price is approximately $150.
