Stellar Blade Developers Shift Up’s New Project, “Project Spirits,” Draws Inspiration from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

South Korean studio Shift Up, renowned for the action game Stellar Blade, is actively developing several new projects. Among these are the anticipated Stellar Blade sequel, expected to launch on multiple platforms, and a brand-new title called Project Spirits.

Project Spirits is slated for release in 2027. According to reports, this title draws direct inspiration from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, suggesting a shift towards a turn-based combat system, mirroring the approach of Sandfall Interactive.

Notably, the development of Project Spirits is largely outsourced to external Chinese studios. The core Shift Up team in Korea, meanwhile, remains entirely focused on creating the Stellar Blade sequel. Sources also indicate a reported lack of significant internal enthusiasm for Project Spirits within the studio.
