While early reviews for a game of this scale don’t always reflect the full picture, a clear trend is emerging: many players are struggling to get past the initial stages. It appears the lengthy and complex introduction has proven too difficult and tedious for some.
Currently, Crimson Desert holds “Mixed” reviews on Steam, with 60% positive feedback. For a major title, this is considered a weak result.
Interestingly, the complaints are less about technical problems. Players more frequently criticize the plot, the drawn-out beginning, inventory management, the user interface, and the game’s overall comfort.
Addressing these issues is more challenging for developers than simply fixing bugs, as such core gameplay elements are harder to rework. However, some problems could still be resolved through updates if the studio responds promptly.
Despite the lukewarm reception, the game had a strong launch in terms of player numbers: concurrent players reached 239,000 on release night. While far from Steam records, these figures could potentially grow further over the weekend.
