Bethesda Softworks has announced the upcoming “Free Lanes” update for Starfield, promising a wealth of new content and significant gameplay improvements. The developers recently shared a trailer showcasing these exciting enhancements.

A standout feature of the update is a redesigned inter-planetary travel system. Players will experience much greater freedom when journeying between planets, substantially reducing the reliance on navigating through game menus. The update also introduces an autopilot function, allowing players to engage in other activities aboard their ship while in transit.

The game’s progression system is set to expand as well. Players will be able to discover a new resource called X-Tech, which can be used to upgrade their equipment. Furthermore, access to a universal storage container will be available from any outpost, streamlining inventory management.

The Free Lanes update for Starfield is scheduled for release on April 7th. This date is particularly significant as it also marks the highly anticipated launch of Starfield on PlayStation 5 consoles.
