Star Wars: Darth Maul – Shadow Lord Premieres

Lucasfilm’s latest animated series, “Star Wars: Darth Maul – Shadow Lord,” has premiered on Disney+. The show launched with two episodes, diving into Maul’s journey after the events of “The Clone Wars.” It depicts his efforts to establish a new criminal empire from scratch and his encounter with a disillusioned Padawan whom he intends to manipulate.

Series creator Dave Filoni has emphasized that the show is intended to bridge the narrative gaps between “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” and “Star Wars Rebels.”

Sam Witwer reprises his role as the voice of Darth Maul, having previously portrayed the character in other animated Star Wars projects. The cast also features Wagner Moura, Gideon Adlon, Richard Ayoade, and Dennis Haysbert.

While official ratings are still forming, early viewers have praised the series for its expressive visuals, darker tone, and more mature storytelling that explores the criminal underworld of the galaxy.

New episodes will be released two per week, with the season finale scheduled for May 4th – a date significant to the Star Wars franchise.
