A significant number of questionable quality projects have disappeared from the PlayStation Store. These games were primarily developed to quickly monetize specific audience segments.
Specifically, some developers specialize in creating primitive, repetitive games where players can easily and quickly earn a “Platinum” trophy – the highest award for collecting all in-game achievements. This strategy actively exploits players’ desire to collect trophies. Other studios release “clones” of popular projects, attempting to profit from their widespread recognition.
The gaming community has long criticized Sony for the presence of such titles in its store, and the company regularly conducts cleanups. It appears that the PlayStation Store underwent another major wave of deletions in early April 2024.
