Previously, this series was exclusively available for viewing on Amazon Prime Video solely within Japan.

SEGA has officially released the mini-series titled “Yakuza Powered by Nihon Touitsu” on its official YouTube channel. This three-episode project has a total runtime of approximately three hours.

This project was created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Yakuza series and is part of SEGA’s special commemorative program. A particular emphasis was placed on the casting: the main roles in the series were performed by actors known from the “Nihon Touitsu” show, who have now transformed into characters from the Yakuza / Like a Dragon universe. This mini-series originally premiered in Japan on Amazon Prime Video in February 2026, preceding the release of the Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Tides remake.

The storyline primarily follows the events of the first Yakuza game and partially delves into the second installment. Among the actors who performed key roles are Yasukaze Motomiya as Kazuma Kiryu, Yoshiyuki Yamaguchi as Goro Majima, Kazuhiro Nakaya as Akira Nishikiyama, and Kenji Matsuda as Makoto Date. Notably, Kazuhiro Nakaya reprises his role as Nishikiyama, whom he previously voiced in the game franchise, and is also recognized by fans as the voice of Ichiban Kasuga.

In the comments section of the released video, users have warmly received this adaptation, emphasizing that it much more accurately conveys the atmosphere and spirit of the original game compared to the more expensive Amazon adaptation, which premiered in October 2024.
