The exclusive game Saros, from Housemarque, the acclaimed studio behind Returnal, is nearing its release. With just a month until launch, media outlets have been granted access to the project for an in-depth look.
Set to release on April 30th, Saros is anticipated to be a must-have title for PlayStation 5 owners and fans of challenging, fast-paced roguelikes. Leading gaming publications like IGN, GameSpot, and VGC concur that Saros holds strong potential to be a “Game of the Year” contender. The game promises not only relentless challenges but also a well-crafted character progression system. Daring encounters with aggressive foes will be richly rewarded with unique weapons and valuable equipment.
Responding to player feedback, the developers have significantly enhanced the save system. Mitja Roskaric, Associate Design Director, explained in an interview:
“In Returnal, players often had to erase their progress to start a new run. With Saros, we’ve implemented multiple save slots available from the beginning, allowing players to manage several playthroughs simultaneously. This was a critically important aspect for us. We understand that life can be busy, and the ability to set down the controller and resume your game at any moment is a key part of this experience.”
Visually, Saros features a unique blend of neoclassicism and 1920s Italian futurism. Despite the abundance of visual effects and numerous particles on screen, the game is set to deliver a stable 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5.
