Samson Action Game Creator Compares New GTA Release to Christmas

The creator of the upcoming action game Samson: A Tyndalston Story has likened the launch of a new Grand Theft Auto title to a major holiday celebration. Developers at Liquid Swords studio believe their project can comfortably coexist alongside GTA rather than directly compete with it.

Christopher Sundberg, co-founder of Liquid Swords, recently shared his views on Grand Theft Auto in an interview with PC Gamer. He described the franchise as an “absolute phenomenon” that transcends typical video game releases.

“They compete literally with all entertainment content. I have immense respect for Rockstar and what they’ve done for the industry, because every time a new GTA game comes out – it’s like Christmas for everyone. It’s like a new iPhone release: something appears that huge masses of people passionately want, even those who don’t usually play video games. They buy [GTA] because when it comes out, everyone talks about it.”

The development team aims for Samson: A Tyndalston Story to be a game that players choose to launch alongside GTA 6, rather than as an alternative. Sundberg envisions Samson as a more concise, intense action experience, drawing inspiration from classic 90-minute action films such as “Die Hard,” “Ronin,” and “Rambo.” He believes there is a clear niche in the market for such a game.

Samson: A Tyndalston Story is scheduled for release on April 8, 2026.
