Masayoshi Yokoyama is open to connecting with the actor.
Masayoshi Yokoyama, head of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the team behind the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, has reacted to Jack Black’s recent declaration of interest in starring in a Yakuza live-action adaptation. On social media, Yokoyama stated that while he currently can’t think of a suitable role for the actor and doesn’t know how to contact him, he doesn’t rule out the possibility of trying to establish a connection. He humorously wrote:
I can’t think of any role at all, and I don’t know how to contact him, but maybe I should try to contact him (lol)

Previously, in an interview, Black mentioned he would be willing to consider any role in a potential Yakuza adaptation. The actor jokingly described himself as a “chubby American” and suggested that Sega “get in touch with him” if a suitable opportunity arose.
Currently, there are no confirmed plans for a new Yakuza live-action adaptation. The franchise has previously ventured into a TV series format, but the future of that project remains uncertain. Nevertheless, this public exchange of remarks indicates that even without concrete plans, collaboration is theoretically possible—potentially even in the form of a cameo in one of the series’ future games.
