Fans of “Harry Potter” can now finally get a glimpse of HBO’s upcoming new adaptation of the beloved story.

HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery have officially shared the initial details about the upcoming “Harry Potter” series. It has been confirmed that the first season, titled “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” will closely follow the events of the first book. It will depict Harry, raised by the Dursleys, discovering his magical heritage, entering Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, forming friendships, and confronting threats deeply connected to his enigmatic past.

The series premiere is now set for December 25, 2026, marking a shift from earlier statements by HBO head Casey Bloys, who had previously indicated a release in the first half of 2027. It appears the launch has been moved to the Christmas holiday period, a time traditionally associated with the franchise for many viewers.

Alongside this announcement, a debut teaser was released, offering a first look at the franchise’s refreshed visual style and introducing viewers to the actors cast in the pivotal roles.

The teaser features key characters such as Harry (Dominic McLaughlin), Ron (Alastair Stout), Hermione (Arabella Stanton), Draco Malfoy (Lox Pratt), Severus Snape (Paapa Essiedu), Rubeus Hagrid (Nick Frost), Professor McGonagall (Janet McTeer), alongside majestic glimpses of Hogwarts itself.

Francesca Gardiner serves as the showrunner for the project, with Mark Mylod directing. Both are known for their previous work on “Succession.” J.K. Rowling is also involved as an executive producer. The series is envisioned as a long-term adaptation, spanning over a decade, to bring the entire “Harry Potter” book series to screen.
