Players are increasingly returning to previous installments of the Resident Evil franchise, leading to a noticeable increase in online activity for various games within the series on Steam.
Among these, the remake of Resident Evil 3 stands out significantly. Despite initial heavy criticism upon its release – largely because many expected a level of content similar to the highly acclaimed RE2 Remake, but developers opted to cut some elements – the game is now experiencing a remarkable surge in popularity.
In March, a substantial 90% discount on Resident Evil 3 Remake propelled its concurrent player count on Steam past the 20,000 player mark. This achievement represents the game’s highest online peak in six years, though its absolute record at launch stood at approximately 60,000 players. This recent spike demonstrates a renewed interest and a more positive reception for the title, overcoming its contentious initial launch.
