Fans of the classic board game Catan have a new reason to set sail with the announcement of pre-orders for the updated “Seafarers” expansion. This refreshed edition, expected to launch in May, promises to bring exciting new adventures to the world of Catan.
Publisher Hobby World has confirmed that the pre-order period for the “Seafarers” expansion is officially underway. Players can look forward to an enhanced experience with new components and a slightly revised design. The expansion significantly broadens the scope of the game, inviting players to utilize ships, establish vital maritime routes, and explore uncharted islands beyond the main Catan landmass.
“Seafarers” features an extensive campaign made up of eight distinct scenarios. Each scenario presents unique challenges and objectives, from battling cunning pirates and fostering sea trade to discovering a fabled golden river and constructing the magnificent wonders of Catan.
At its core, the familiar Catan gameplay loop remains: players will strategically gather resources, build settlements and roads, engage in shrewd trading, and continuously seek the best opportunities to develop their burgeoning colonies.
The “Seafarers” expansion is fully compatible with all Catan base game editions released from 2018 onwards. While slight variations in component design may exist between different printings, these differences will not impact the overall gameplay experience.
