Despite her “femme fatale” persona in the Metaverse, Ann Takamaki is, in reality, a kind, compassionate, and occasionally naive girl who deeply cherishes her friends, especially her best friend Shiho Suzui. Ann finds it challenging to be deceptive or conceal her emotions, a contrast to Makoto’s more composed demeanor.

Makoto Niijima is a pragmatist, consistently seeking logical solutions, which sets her apart from the emotional Ann and the impulsive Ryuji. She is highly disciplined and expects similar standards from others, which initially can make her seem intimidating. Despite her formidable intellect, Makoto is somewhat unaccustomed to typical teenage pastimes. Her primary motivation is not personal glory, but rather the protection of the vulnerable.
