Owlcat Games has confirmed its use of generative artificial intelligence in the development of their upcoming title, “The Expanse: Osiris Reborn.” The studio clarified that these tools serve to accelerate initial processes and aid in prototyping, with a firm commitment that the final version of the game will be entirely crafted by human hands.
Representatives from Owlcat Games elaborated that generative AI is exclusively deployed during the early phases of development. According to PR Manager Katharina Popp, such instruments are not used to create assets that will appear in the finished game.
Popp stated, “We do not use AI for creating assets that will end up in the final version of the game. It is primarily for prototyping, testing ideas, and creating temporary placeholders, which are subsequently replaced entirely.”
The studio further explained that AI assists in speeding up technical experiments, such as evaluating how a 2D image might translate into a 3D environment or exploring various color schemes. Developers stressed that all conclusive content, including the game’s script and voice acting, is created solely by human talent, without any AI involvement.
