Blizzard Entertainment decided to revise the heroine’s design, but not everyone is pleased with the outcome.
Some Overwatch fans initially criticized An Zhuan’s design, with many dissatisfied users pointing out that her face largely resembled those of other female characters in the game, leading to a perceived lack of uniqueness.
Following this feedback, Blizzard Entertainment promised to alter her appearance and has now unveiled the redesigned look for the character.
The old and new versions of An Zhuan are presented below. Her appearance was modified to make her more closely resemble her brother, Wu Yang:
However, the new design has not received exclusively positive feedback. Criticism has emerged, with some opinions suggesting the changes are minor and rather questionable in their effectiveness.
In a satirical take on the concept of a “progressive” appearance, one artist exaggerated the idea, proposing a significantly curvier An Zhuan and adding specific, often debated, details to the character’s image:
