Online Cat Purchase Fraud: Woman Falls Victim to Internet Scam

A woman’s dream of acquiring a new feline companion turned into a nightmare when she fell victim to an online pet scam. Hoping to purchase a cat she found advertised on the internet, she made an advance payment to the supposed seller.

However, after transferring the money, both the promised kitten and the vendor vanished, leaving her empty-handed and defrauded. This incident highlights the growing risks associated with online pet transactions.

Authorities are once again cautioning the public about the dangers of buying pets online, urging extreme vigilance and thorough vetting of sellers. They advise prospective pet owners to insist on meeting the animal in person before making any payments and to be wary of deals that seem too good to be true.
