NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Unveiled: Next-Gen Frame Generation Boosts Performance for RTX GPUs

NVIDIA has rolled out an enhanced version of its DLSS technology, DLSS 4.5, which is now available for testing to NVIDIA App users. The primary objective of this update is to fully leverage the capabilities of high-refresh-rate monitors, especially in graphically intensive titles that utilize path tracing.

A significant new feature is the Dynamic Multi Frame Generation module, which functions akin to an “automatic transmission” for your graphics card. This system intelligently adjusts frame multipliers based on the GPU’s workload, dynamically adapting the output to match your monitor’s refresh rate. This ensures consistently smooth gameplay while simultaneously conserving resources and reducing power consumption.

Exclusively for owners of GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards, DLSS 4.5 introduces the Multi Frame Generation 6X mode. This advanced AI-powered capability generates five additional frames for every frame rendered using traditional methods. Upgrading from the 4X to the 6X mode can deliver a substantial performance increase of up to 35% in 4K resolutions. Furthermore, this technology seamlessly integrates with NVIDIA Reflex to effectively minimize input latency, providing a more responsive gaming experience.

NVIDIA engineers have also implemented improvements to the clarity of in-game interfaces and mini-maps, a beneficial update that extends to the RTX 40 series as well. The new features are confirmed to be supported in 20 exciting titles, including:

  • Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered
  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard
  • Outer Worlds 2
  • DOOM: The Dark Ages
  • Borderlands 4
  • Indiana Jones
  • God of War Ragnarök
  • Marvel Spider-Man 2
  • Starfield
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
  • Ratchet & Clank
  • F1 25
  • Monster Hunter Wilds
  • F1 24
  • Star Wars Outlaws
  • Forza Horizon 5
  • Battlefield 6 Campaign

To utilize the full potential of DLSS 4.5, users will need to install driver version 595.79 WHQL or a more recent version. Additionally, the NVIDIA App settings now feature 2nd generation Transformer neural network architecture presets (designated as M and L), which promise to deliver even sharper and cleaner image quality on PC gaming systems.
