Nvidia Clarifies DLSS 5 Technology Amidst Criticism

Following a wave of criticism directed at the recent presentation of its DLSS 5 technology, Nvidia has issued an official statement. This clarification, published alongside a demonstration video, aims to shed light on the core features of the latest version of its upscaling and graphics enhancement system.

Nvidia emphasized that game developers will maintain complete artistic control over how DLSS 5 influences the visual aspects of their projects. The DLSS 5 SDK includes comprehensive tools for fine-tuning effect intensity, managing color correction, and selectively masking specific areas of a scene where the technology’s application might be undesirable. Furthermore, the company assured that the technology remains entirely optional for players.

The company also directly refuted the widespread misconception that DLSS 5 is merely an “AI filter” applied over an existing image. According to Nvidia, the technology operates differently: it leverages color data and motion vectors from each frame to construct the final image, ensuring it remains intricately linked to the original 3D content.
