Fans eagerly awaiting an announcement for Dead by Daylight 2 can now put those hopes to rest. Behaviour Interactive has confirmed there are no plans for a sequel, choosing instead to focus on the long-term development and continuous evolution of the original game.
While the game launched in 2016, making its upcoming 10th anniversary a seemingly ideal moment for a new installment, the studio has decided on a different trajectory. Creative Director Dave Richard explained the reasoning in a recent interview:
“There comes a point where we consider, ‘Okay, we could make a sequel now.’ And frankly, starting fresh would be significantly easier than trying to address the existing issues within the current game. However, from the players’ perspective, that wouldn’t make any sense whatsoever. They have invested so much time and money into Dead by Daylight.”

Other options, including a remake, were also evaluated but ultimately discarded. Mathieu Côté, Head of Behaviour Interactive, stated that simultaneously developing two games is not a viable strategy.
“We believe it’s possible for a game to thrive and remain fresh for another decade, and that’s precisely our objective. Dead by Daylight 2 will definitely not happen—players won’t be forced to start over from scratch. We do, however, recognize that the game is approaching its tenth year, which is a considerable age in our industry.”
The ongoing success and longevity of the project are sustained by regular content updates and exciting crossovers. Last year, for instance, the horror title saw a popular collaboration with ‘The Witcher’ franchise.
