NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE Anime Adaptation Reveals Main Trailer and Release Date

The anime adaptation of the viral visual novel, which follows the story of a troubled streamer, is officially set to premiere on April 4th.

The creators behind the NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE anime have unveiled the main trailer for the upcoming series, alongside a fresh key visual featuring the character Chou Ten-chan. Simultaneously, the exact premiere date was announced: the series will make its debut on April 4th at 18:30 MSK (Moscow Standard Time).

This project draws inspiration from the acclaimed game NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE, developed by WSS playground and xemono. Since its launch in 2022, the game quickly became a viral sensation, accumulating nearly 50,000 reviews on Steam, with an impressive 94% of them being positive.

In the game, players assume the role of a producer managing a girl named Ame, who streams under the alias OMGkawaiiAngel, aspiring to become the internet’s most popular idol. While it initially presents as a streamer simulator with visual novel elements, the narrative gradually deepens, transforming into a psychological horror experience.

The anime will present an original storyline set within the established universe of the game, rather than being a direct adaptation of its plot. Production is handled by Yostar Pictures, a studio known for its previous adaptations of titles like Arknights and Blue Archive.

Nyalra, the original creator of the universe, is overseeing the script and overall concept. Masaoki Nakajima, who previously directed a short film version of NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE, takes on the role of project director for the series. The musical score for the anime is being crafted by Aiobahn +81, Sasuke Haraguchi, and DÉ DÉ MOUSE—all composers who contributed to the original game.
