French publisher Nacon is facing significant financial difficulties, leading to insolvency filings by three of its well-known subsidiary studios: Spiders, Kylotonn, and Cyanide. Earlier this year, Nacon itself initiated creditor protection procedures, highlighting the scale of the crisis.
These studios have entered a judicial reorganization process. Under this mechanism, their financial obligations will be temporarily frozen, and an observation period lasting up to eighteen months will commence. During this time, the companies are expected to develop and implement a plan for debt restructuring and stabilization of their economic situation.
Among the affected studios are Spiders, known for its RPG series GreedFall; Cyanide, creators of the Styx franchise; and Kylotonn, developers of games under the World Rally Championship license. Nacon Tech, a division specializing in motion capture technology, has also joined them in filing for insolvency.
Nacon previously stated that the purpose of its actions was “to analyze all possible solutions to ensure operational stability.” The current state of affairs points to systemic issues affecting both the parent publishing company and its core game development studios.
