The upcoming game Mouse: P.I. For Hire is set to captivate players with its distinctive visual style and robust shooter mechanics, all built upon a foundation of compelling detective storytelling. Players will assume the role of Jack Pepper, a sharp private investigator dedicated to unraveling cases of missing persons.
While the game incorporates an investigation board, drawing comparisons to titles like Alan Wake 2, its core narrative structure is more straightforward. Mateusz Michalak, the head of Fumi Games, elaborated on their design philosophy:
“Although in some instances you can explore levels and tackle individual cases in an order of your choosing, the story in Mouse: P.I. For Hire remains relatively linear. But that doesn’t mean you can’t come to the wrong conclusions! As you gather clues and evidence, you might think you know the answers and how everything will end, but several plot twists await you along the way…”

Michalak also clarified the approach to level design:
“Most levels in Mouse: P.I. For Hire are essential for progressing through the main story – so yes, you will visit them all! There are additional side quests, but these are typically carried out within the same levels rather than in separate new locations.”
Ultimately, Mouse: P.I. For Hire expertly merges a linear narrative with dynamic investigation elements. Player deductions, and even their occasional misinterpretations, do not halt the game’s progression but profoundly shape their understanding and personal experience of the unfolding mystery. This promises a uniquely engaging detective adventure where individual perception is key.
