In a recent interview, Casey Yano, co-founder of Mega Crit, revealed that the studio is developing new game modes for Slay the Spire 2 with three distinct player types in mind.
The first mode is being crafted for highly competitive players who seek to challenge their skills to the fullest. The second aims to provide the quintessential Slay the Spire experience for those who have limited time. The third mode is designed to foster social interaction and offer a multiplayer experience, leveraging the game’s existing systems.

Yano emphasized that it’s not a guarantee all these modes will make it into the final version of the game. He expressed a strong aversion to creating numerous modes merely for the sake of quantity:
“If we know that only two of them are truly engaging, I absolutely despise the idea of having 23 useless buttons cluttering the screen. For me, that’s a definitive ‘no.’”
Slay the Spire 2 was released approximately a month ago, and the developers anticipate a prolonged early access period as they continue to build and refine the game.
