This upcoming special presentation, intricately linked to the anticipated “Spider-Man: New Day” film, is set to be a significant cinematic event rather than merely a brief supplementary feature.
Marvel Studios has officially announced its most extensive ‘Special Presentation’ to date. According to the Writers Guild of America database, the standalone Punisher episode, featuring Jon Bernthal in the lead role, will boast a 60-minute runtime. This duration surpasses the previous record holder, the 52-minute ‘Werewolf by Night’ special.
Confirmation from the same source reveals that the script was co-written by Jon Bernthal himself and Reynaldo Marcus Green, who is also at the helm as the director for the special.
While specific plot details remain largely under wraps, Bernthal has previously indicated that the creative team is committed to delivering a fiercely gritty and dark narrative. Significantly, this project will be directly connected to the “Spider-Man: New Day” movie, where the Punisher is expected to play a crucial and substantial role.
The solo “Spider-Man” film, starring Tom Holland, is slated for a theatrical release on July 31, 2026. The Punisher special is anticipated to debut around the same timeframe, with speculation suggesting it might drop on the same day or shortly before the main movie’s premiere.
