The SynthVoiceRu team recently released a Russian voiceover for Mafia III: Definitive Edition, entirely generated using artificial intelligence technologies.
Currently, only an “alpha version” of the project is available. The developers at SynthVoiceRu acknowledge certain difficulties and ongoing issues. They note the low quality of the voiceover, the absence of voice acting in cutscenes (only off-screen narration is present), and the complexity of integration due to the game’s structure. This is why only the current version has been released.
Despite the stated shortcomings, player comments indicate that some users are satisfied with the current quality of the Russian voiceover for Mafia III: Definitive Edition.
One user, Borekinto, suggested that off-screen narration is the “ideal option for AI,” as it allows players to understand the context, and “the lack of naturalness is compensated by the original voice.”
