Legion Go 2’s High Price Tag Challenges ROG Ally X Dominance

The Legion Go 2 is generating considerable discussion among gamers, primarily due to its new pricing strategy. This device, intended to be a top performer in the portable gaming market, could reach up to $2000 in some configurations. This makes it significantly more expensive than its main competitor, the ROG Ally X.

For comparison, the primary rival, the ROG Ally X, typically costs around $999 – roughly half the price. This represents a substantial difference in the PC handheld gaming segment, where price often plays a decisive role in consumer choice.

The Legion Go 2 attempts to justify its high cost with impressive specifications. It boasts an 8.8-inch OLED screen, up to 32GB of RAM, extensive expansion capabilities, detachable controllers, and a built-in kickstand. However, the critical issue is that the gap in raw gaming performance between the two devices isn’t that wide. Both systems are based on modern AMD chips and offer comparable gaming performance.

Ultimately, this raises questions about the rationale behind such a premium price. Many gamers believe that, at current price points, the Ally X offers a much better balance of cost and capabilities, while the Legion Go 2 risks becoming a niche gadget for a specific group of enthusiasts. Lenovo’s new handheld appears to be a premium device in every sense – powerful, but also expensive.
