In a remarkable display of long-term support, King’s Bounty: The Legend, a beloved fantasy strategy RPG, has received a new beta patch on Steam, an astonishing 18 years after its initial launch.
Fulqrum Publishing recently announced the release of this beta branch, primarily focused on testing and implementing Steam achievements for the classic title.
During the testing phase, several issues were identified, leading developers to prepare a series of fixes and adjustments to achievement conditions:
- Resolved a brief freeze experienced when first opening the character screen.
- Corrected a bug where achievements for reaching specific mana values could be awarded without fulfilling the actual conditions.
- Fixed an issue where the achievement for visiting Cordar might be granted upon visiting a cave in Greenwort instead.
- Addressed a bug where the achievement for visiting Ultrax could be awarded when accessing a special location via a whale event.
- The damage threshold for the ‘One-Punch Man’ achievement has been significantly increased from 1,000 to 10,000.
- Rectified an error preventing achievements for completing the game on lower difficulties from being awarded when the game was finished on a higher difficulty.
- For the ‘Ghost Hunter’ achievement, the path involving an initial conversation with the ghost, followed by siding with Norj and resolving the conflict peacefully, is now correctly recognized.
- Improved stability issues that, in some cases, could occur when interacting with runes.
This commitment to updating and enhancing a game nearly two decades after its release underscores the enduring legacy and dedicated community behind King’s Bounty: The Legend.
