Recent information indicates that the previously leaked script for Zach Cregger’s new Resident Evil adaptation closely reflects the final version.
In March, the full script for Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil film briefly appeared online before being quickly removed. Summaries of it rapidly circulated, sparking discussions due to its unusual tone and numerous eccentric scenes.
The situation became clearer after test screenings. According to media reports, the film emphasizes a high tempo and minimal exposition, developing the narrative as a sequence of intense episodes. Some compare it to George Miller’s ‘Mad Max: Fury Road,’ noting that the film feels like playing a game, with the protagonist perceived as a player’s avatar.
Now, insider MyTimeToShineHello has confirmed key plot elements, whose description almost entirely matches the March leak, indirectly confirming no significant changes to the script. The story, in broad strokes, follows a man tasked with delivering a bag, which he believes contains organs. On his journey, he gets stuck in ice, hits a zombie woman, is stopped by police, chased by a dog, and then pursued by ‘alien-like zombies.’ He encounters a character working for Umbrella (played by Paul Walter Hauser), after which he must reach Raccoon City and deliver a cure to the 28th floor of the main building.
The premiere of the new Resident Evil adaptation is scheduled for September 18, 2026.
